Co-Curricular Activities

During this time when education has become extremely bookish and lopsided neglecting the growth and development of latent talents of the students, we have enthusiastically tried to uphold the spirti of the New Education Policy of the Government of India supplemented by curriculum frame work 2005 which rightly emphasises the importance of integrated education for the harmonious all round development of the child’s personality. We make appropriate and down to earth plan to achieve this target by imparting training for 3H’s viz. Head, Heart and Hand. Besides class room instructions, their mental and intellectual faculties are being sharpened by arranging various competitions through out the academic year at the Intra House and Inter House level.
The Inter-House Competitions are held under Junior and Senior categoris in include all students of the institition.
Some of the items of the competitions are light music, group music, extempore in all the four languages, group discussion, recitation, calligraphy, quiz, monoact, fancy dress, drawing and painting, solo dance, pookkalam, group dance, elocution etc.
The Vidyalaya has been providing training to talented students in classical dance, classical music, instrumental music.
Scouts and Guides, NCC, School band troop are given intense training by specialised personnel from these fields.
The Vidyalaya’s nature club has been rechristened as Souparnika eco club and revitalized its functions under the aegis of the eco club programme, Ministry of Environment and Forest,Govt of India. The club members carried out much conservative activity and participated in nature camps in association with Biosphere, Kasaragod. Children are involved in biodiversity surveys, study of birds and butterflies, identification and preservation of medicinal herbs and awareness campaigns
In the present context of social setup it is highly necessary that children at the tender age should understand and develop the idea of religious harmony and appreciate the secularist concept of Indian democracy. Keeping the idea in mind, the vidyalaya has been celebrating all the religions and national important days. The vidyalaya celebrated independence day, Onam and Gandi jayanthi, Childrens day, Hindi fortnight, Republic day, Ramsan, Holly, Sivarathri, Vishu and Earthday etc.
